Italy, that most musical of nations, and Rome, the Eternal City, are the inspirations for our show, based on the music of two 20th Century geniuses, Respighi and Puccini.

We begin at the famous Trevi Fountain in Rome as the mid-day bells toll, with majestic music for a magnificent landmark. This makes way for horn fanfares as the joyful October Festival is described, full of life and vigour.

Passion is at the heart of Italian life and never more so than in the beautiful Si Mi chiamano Mimi from the much-loved La Boheme.

As the climax of the first part of our programme, we become part of the night before the Epiphany Festival, with the people intoxicated by the wine and frenzy of the popular street celebrations.

Part two begins with the dramatic climax to Act 1 of Turandot, the passionate tale of the Princess Turandot, memorable music in the Italian style.

We end with the magnificent Pines of the Appian Way, with the Roman Legions marching relentlessly in triumph towards the city.
