As at 26/01/00 We would like to officially welcome 4 new staff members to the corps.

Firstly on the guard/visual staff we have Bridget Coulter and Steve Fowler.
Bridget and Steve have been around the circuit for many years and have been very successful both in Winterguard and the summer season.

The Drumline are very happy to announce that both Gary Powell and Geoff Fry whom I'm sure don't need any introduction will be working with the corps this year.

We can also confirm that Jeff Wroblewski ex visual designer of Star of Indiana who came over last September will not only be coming back again this year, but will also be assisting with the writing of this years visual show.

The Brass have no new additions to the staff but have exactly the same line up as 1999 . We are attempting an extremely difficult book this year of which we are very confident that with the calibre of our members and staff we will be able to pull it off.

"SYMPHONIC VOICES" our Y2K PROGRAM is well underway with the brass having learnt about 6 minutes of the show with the drums and pit close behind.

Our first camp of the season will be on February 5th & 6th at Meonstoke, Hants . We are aiming to have the brass completing 90% of the show with the first half of the show completed musically by all sections.
This will be our first visit back to Meonstoke for a couple of years and I'm sure Janet the landlady of our local "The Queens Head" there will be pleased to hear that we are back. She tells us that the weekends that we are there are her busiest of the year. Once we finish rehearsal at 9pm it's a mad dash to the pub for some serious drinking and partying which goes on till she can eventually get us out.

What a BLAST!
Cadence visited Hamersmith Apollo Thursday evening to see the first performance of BLAST!
Everyone who went was amazed by the performance which started with Ravel's Bolero and continued for 2 hours! The performance included Appalachian Spring, Medea, Slava, Land of Make Believe and finished with a massive Malaguena. The whole show was just incredible, with the Worlds premier Drum Corps Performers in Brass, Percussion and Guard. We can't wait for our next visit in January, and I think many who were there last night will be going back for more before then!

Cadence are British Champions 1999
At Sixfields stadium, Northampton, Cadence earnt the Honour of being crowned the 1999 British Drum Corps Champions. After winning the morning Prelims show by less than half a point the evening show was ahead by 1.8 points. Congratulations to all our Marching Members, Instructional Staff, Support Staff and all our loyal supporters who have all waited for so long for that "Magic momment".
Thanks to all the other competing Corps who made us work so hard and made this season so competetive and exciting, particularly all Corps Members who offered their Congratulations to our Members on the field or afterwards in the Carpark, your sportmanship made the occasion even more memorable.

Cadence "Raise the roof" at BYBA Northwood
Cadence "Force of Destiny" show took The No. 1 spot with a score of 848 points. In 2nd place 37th Kingswood were just 2 points ahead of Staffordshire Knights with 806 points.
The spread of 40 points was well deserved with a show which had so many changes from the previous show at Leicester, and was performed so well after a very wet days rehearsal.

DCUK Leicester
Cadence were just 1.2 points behind Black Knights at Leicester, with what was a typical 'morning show' which we know we can dramatically improve on during the final two weeks of the DCUK season. With the assistance of Jeff Wroblewski and the other 'Staff Imports' from Indiana the show will improve in leaps and bounds as we head towards Finals day.

The Stars from Indiana
This week, Cadence will welcome back Jeff Wroblewski and his team of 6 from Indiana. Jeff teaches Drum Corps and Marching Bands across the US on a full time basis. His knowledge of design and instructing Drum Corps is vast, and he has written and taught for Star of Indiana for many years including their World Championship title year. Also with Jeff are Ex-marching members of Star of Indiana and a DCM Judge. They will be with us for the next 2 weekends and I'm sure will add great momentum to our push for both the British Titles.

DCUK Tottenham
Our first show of the second half leaves us tied with The Senators on a score of 76.4 which was just behind The Black Knights on 78.4
We placed 2nd in Brass and Percussion by small margins, and won visual by 3 tenths. The Guard placed 3rd. Our Overall effect was joint 2nd with Senators. Overall a very encouraging start to the second half.

August Camp
The Corps spent a most enjoyable bank holiday weekend in Warwickshire. All Members and staff worked hard to bring the show to a new level, ready for Tottenham. During the weekend the Corps performed six shows at The Town & Country Festival at Stoneleigh where the Organisers and Crowd were amazed by our performances. Our thanks to Keith and all the crowd at Pheonix Drum & Bugle Corps in Coventry for our accomodation and the night out!

It's a Girl!
Congratulations to Our Lead soprano Carlos "The Big Show" Benn and Tracey our aged-out bass drummer on the birth of their daughter Erin. Mother & daughter reported to be well, and hoping to make it to the Barbecue this week-end!... We look forward to it!!

2nd place at DCUK Leicester
Cadence maintained the pressure on Senators and opened the spread over Black Knights at The DCUK show at Leicester. With all open class Corps in attendance it really was the showdown to the first half of the season.

1st place at Wells & Bristol BYBA (As at 05/07/99)
Cadence enjoyed a very succesful weekend in the West Country, and came away from both contests as Premier Class champions and no less than 12 trophies!
Saturdays show was not at the standard the Staff were expecting. However after an excellent rehearsal on Sunday morning to fix some minor errors the Corps took the field and pulled off a storming performance to take first place with 777 points (the highest score in Premier class this year).

2nd place at Basingstoke BYBA (As at 21/06/99)

Once again Cadence took Brass, Percussion and GE but were still denied the top spot by The Staffordshire Knights. We lost out 20 points on display and showmanship and drill & deportment combined and finished on 704 points which was just 12 points behind The Knights. Just behind us in 3rd place were the 37th Kingswood who we met for the first time and we look forward to meeting once again in two weeks time.
